Welcome to our Spring 2025 newsletter!

St Patrick's Day Parade
The Raheny Tidy Village Group has been involved in the committee organising the inaugural St Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday 16th March and we will be marching in the Parade.
Our theme is based on our success in the All-Ireland Pollinator Awards and rumour has it that we will have a Queen Bee with us on the day!
Urban Biodiversity Network Meeting
We are delighted to be hosting the Urban Biodiversity Network Meeting on Saturday 15th of March at 10:30 a.m. The group will then take a walk around the Village to see the work we are doing on Biodiversity.
Biodiversity Action Plan
After a tremendous amount of work our Biodiversity Action Plan is complete and is looking fantastic. The next step is to launch the plan and to start work on the actions recommended in the plan.

An Taisce National Spring Clean and Team Dublin Clean Up
We are participating in An Taisce Nation Spring Clean (22nd March) and Team Dublin Clean Up (26th April).
We are holding a River Clean Up in the Santry River for the An Tasice National Spring Clean and the events for Team Dublin Clean Up are still in the planning stage,
Community Climate Action Project
We received funding earlier this year under the Community Climate Action Fund. We were granted funding for:
Dispersed Orchards/Native Tree Planting
Pollinator Planting/Develop Pollinator Corridor
Rain Garden
Compost Bin
Install water fountains in Village
Pollinator friendly planting has been installed at Raheny Road and beside SuperValu. We have purchased the native fruit trees, they are heeled in at the Community Garden and we will be distributing them to local community groups, businesses and schools to create a dispersed orchard in Raheny. This will also form part of the pollinator corridor.

We will be starting work on the rain garden in the coming weeks.

Garden
Work continues in the Community Garden and we hope to have loads of produce to share with the community over the coming months.
Competition Entries
Every year we enter the Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards, the National Tidy Towns Competition and the additional categories. There is a huge amount of work involved in these applications as every year more detail is required.
Circular Economy/VOICE Project
This project is ongoing and we will have updates shortly.
Con Clarke
And finally, we end this newsletter remembering Con Clarke, coordinator of the Raheny Tidy Village Group since 1998, who sadly passed away last month. He was a great contributor to our group since the beginning and has done a huge amount for Raheny over the years. We are very grateful to him and will miss him.
