Over the past three years, Raheny Tidy Village Group has been monitoring the wild orchids growing in Raheny. This year, the results are outstanding. We have more than doubled the number of wild orchids recorded in the Raheny area, with a total of 684 orchids counted in 2026.

The presence of wild orchids provides valuable insight into the broader impacts of environmental change, making them important indicators of ecosystem health. This is a remarkable achievement for a small urban area.

Wildflowers thrive where grass cutting is carefully managed, allowing plants to flower and set seed. Raheny Tidy Village Group continues to work with Dublin City Council to identify areas where grass cutting can be managed in a way that encourages more wildflowers and supports biodiversity throughout Raheny.
